BUCHAREST (Romania), April 1 (SeeNews) – Romanian state-owned railway infrastructure operator CFR plans to invest 26 million lei ($6.2 million/5.3 million euro) to overhaul the railway line between Cilibia in Buzau county and Faurei in Braila county.
Works on the 19 km railway section are expected to take 250 days, CFR said in a press release on Wednesday.
Following the overhaul, trains will be able to run at 120 km per hour on the Cilibia-Faurei section, compared to approximately 80 km per hour currently.
Last month, CFR launched two tenders worth a total 22.1 million lei for repairs of railway infrastructure in the counties of Sibiu and Harghita.
The Romanian railway network has a total length of 20,077 km and is the seventh largest network in the European Union, data posted on the CFR website showed.
