August 20 (SeeNews) - Romania has lost a case against Germany's E.ON at the International Court of Arbitration in Paris and should pay about 2 million euro ($2.2 million) to the company in legal expenses, Bucharest-based media reported on Thursday.
Romania had filed the case against E.ON, asking the company to pay 33 million euro for failing to comply with certain conditions included in the privatisation contract of power distributor Electrica Moldova, financial daily Ziarul Financiar said.
Romania has sued several companies that bought subsidiaries of power distributor and supplier Electrica, but has been losing the cases one by one, Ziarul Financiar said.
Romania has also sued Italy's Enel over breaches in the privatisation contract of power distributor Electrica Muntenia Sud. The country wants to exercise a put option included in the privatisation contract, asking Enel to pay 521.6 million euro for a 13.57% stake in the power distributor. That case is still pending in the International Court of Arbitration in Paris.
