BUCHAREST (Romania), August 23 (SeeNews) – Polish-listed hotel group Orbis, the strategic partner of AccorHotels in Eastern Europe, said on Wednesday it plans to open the first ibis Styles hotel in Romania's capital Bucharest, together with its local partner and investor Constructii Erbasu.
Orbis and Erbasu will renovate an existing building located near Bucharest business district, Orbis said in a press release.
Once renovated, the building is expected to join the ibis Styles network in mid-2018. The hotel will offer 96 rooms, a restaurant, a bar and a conference room.
"Orbis is the leading hotel group in Eastern Europe and we are targeting the leading position also in Romania, being one of the most dynamic markets in the region. Romania offers great perspective for hotels under international brands in the capital as well as in the countryside with a strong regional support as Orbis," president and CEO of Orbis Group Gilles Clavie said.
ibis Styles is AccorHotels' economy brand and has almost 400 properties worldwide.
Constructii Erbasu has over 27 years of experience on the Romanian market and has worked on over 300 projects both in the public and private sector.
In May, Orbis said it will open a hotel in the central Romanian town of Sighisoara, Mures county, at the end of the third quarter. The hotel will be Orbis' first Mercure hotel outside capital Bucharest. Mercure is the non-standardized midscale brand of AccorHotels.
Orbis comprises 120 hotels and is the sole licensor of all AccorHotels brands in 16 countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. It offers a total of 20,000 rooms.
The hotels operate under the brand names Sofitel, Pullman, M Gallery, Novotel, Mercure, ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget.
