November 15 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's majority state-owned power utility EPCG [MNG:EPCG] has signed a 219,000 euro ($228,300) contract with a consortium of three companies for the execution of a hydrological study for the construction of a hydropower plant on the Piva river, it said.
The consortium, comprising Belgrade-based Institut za vodoprivredu Jaroslav Cerni, Switzerland's Gruner Stucky, and Serbia's Gruner Balkans, will study the hydropower potential of the Piva river and develop a software platform to support the selection of the best variant for the construction of the Krusevo hydropower plant, EPCG said in a statement last week.
"We are looking forward to cooperation with renowned partners, whose participation represents a guarantee of quality; for us, this is a very important step forward in the context of the continuation of a large investment cycle," EPCG CEO Nikola Rovcanin said.
The deadline for the completion of the works is May 11, 2023.
Krusevo is planned to be constructed downstream of Piva hydropower plant, which produces an average of 737.25 GWh of electricity per year.
