BUCHAREST (Romania), July 2 (SeeNews) – French hospitality group Accor said on Thursday it aims to open up to 50 hotels under several brands in the coming years in Romania.
The company is actively looking for opportunities in the market and plans to open seven new hotels this year in Romania, it said in a press release announcing a partnership for a new ibis hotel near Bucharest's main airport Henri Coanda.
"Accor aims to consolidate a network of 45-50 hotels in Romania under different brands in the coming years. We are actively looking for opportunities in the market, so that we can offer owners and potential investors our full support, the tools that we have at our disposal, as well as our distribution network and expertise," Accor Eastern Europe head of development Frank Reul said.
On June 24, Accor signed a management agreement with Romanian real-estate developer Alexandra Residence Design for a new 144-room ibis hotel in Tunari, near Bucharest International Airport Henri Coanda, where a second terminal is to be built.
Consulting firm Est Hospitality Consulting will be in charge of the operational management of the project until the opening, while the design was entrusted to Cumulus Architecture.
The ibis Henri Coanda Airport Terminal 2 hotel will be part of a multifunctional complex, which will include a SPA and wellness center as well as an event space of approximately 1,000 sq m.
The inauguration of the complex is planned for the end of 2022.
Alexandra Residence Design is a real estate developer owned by businessman Marian Ion. Its core investment is the Alexandra Residence residential complex in Tunari, near Bucharest.
Accor is a French multinational hospitality company that owns, manages and franchises hotels, resorts and vacation properties.
On June 22, Accor and Dentotal Group opened an ibis Styles hotel in the central part of Romania's capital Bucharest following a 10 million euro ($11.34 million) investment.
Currently, Accor operates six hotels in Romania under the ibis, Mercure, Pullman and Novotel brands, according to its website.
