July 27 (SeeNews) - A total of 1,758,199 foreign tourists visited Slovenia in the first half of 2023, up 39.2% year-on-year, the state statistical office said, citing provisional data.
Overnight stays by foreign tourists increased by 32.2% on the year to 4,225,330 in January-June, the statistical office said in a statement earlier this week.
The number of domestic tourists fell by 33.3% to 714,180, taking the total number of tourists to 2,472,379, up 6.0% compared to January-June 2022.
Overnight stays by domestic tourists totalled 2,034,403 in the first half of 2023, down 28.1% on the year. The overall number of tourist overnights in the review period totalled 6,259,733, up 3.9%.
In June alone, 534,470 foreign tourists visited Slovenia, up 20.4% year-on-year. Overnight stays by foreign tourists grew by 16.1% to 1,271,482.
In June, most overnight stays were made by foreign tourists from Germany, accounting for 23.0% of the total, followed by Austria with 8.8%.
