BELGRADE (Serbia), April 30 (SeeNews) – The number of foreign tourists who visited Serbia in March plunged 65.8% on the year to 38,317, statistical office data showed.
The number of overnights spent by foreign tourists in Serbia slumped by 58.3% year-on-year, to 107,414 in March.
Bulgaria was Serbia's biggest feeder market in March, with 4,405 tourists, down 62.3% on the year. Bosnian citizens followed, down 65.8% to 3,377. Visitors from Croatia came third, down 63.5% to 2,984.
The number of domestic tourists decreased by 47.0% on the year to 64,306 in March, taking the total number of tourists to 102,623, down 66.0%.
The Serbian government introduced on March 15 a state of emergency due to the coronavirus outbreak and closed its borders to all foreigners not living in the country. On March 17, a night curfew for all citizens was introduced as a protection measure.
