Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia rise 21% y/y in May

July 5 (SeeNews) - Foreign tourist arrivals to Croatia totalled 1.66 million in May, an increase of 20.8% compared to the same month of 2023, the statistical office said on Friday.

The number of overnights spent by foreign tourist in Croatia went up 25.6% on the year, to 6.3 million in May, the statistical office said in a monthly report.

Local tourist arrivals rose 12.9% on the year to 283,185, and the number of overnights by local tourists went up 8.9% to 618,917 in May.

Foreign tourist arrivals to the Adriatic country rose 10% on the year to 16.855 million in 2023, the same statistical office has said earlier.

Tourism is a key industry for the economy of the Adriatic country, contributing a fifth of the country's GDP.
