March 26 (SeeNews) - Finnish electronics and wiring systems manufacturer PKC Group has laid off 150 employees of its factory in Serbia's Smederevo due to the supply problems caused by the coronavirus crisis, Serbian media reported.

The 150 employees have been working part-time at the factory and were hired through an employment agency, public broadcaster RTS said on Wednesday.

"A large number of manufacturing components come from European factories, which have been temporarily closed due to the coronavirus pandemic," RTS said.

In October, Serbian economy minister Goran Knezevic said PKC Group is investing 20 million euro in the expansion of its factory in Smederevo. The company currently has 1,509 workers and plans to expand its capacity and hire 1,200 more, Knezevic said back then.

PKC opened its factory in Smederevo in 2014.
