January 5 (SeeNews) - Employees at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Serbia expect the company to start production of a hybrid-powered version of its Fiat 500L model at the factory in Kragujevac in 2022, the leader of Nezavisnost trade union at the factory, Zoran Stanic, said on Wednesday.
"This year, the production lines in the Kragujevac factory were completely emptied. I hope that the new hybrid version will come this year, and within two years a completely new model will be introduced," Stanic said in a video file posted on the website of Tanjug news agency.

FCA Serbia employees are on a paid leave until January 13, when production is expected to resume, Stanic said.
"We have heard from suppliers that they are announcing large orders for Fiat for this year and next," he added.
Fiat 500L with an internal combustion engine has been the only version of the model produced in the Kragujevac factory since it was reopened in April 2012.
