The aid is part of a 454.8 million euro disaster relief aid package for Romania, Turkey, and Italy, the Council said in a press release.

The funding will be sourced from the 2023 European Union budget and directed to the EU Solidarity Fund, enabling the disbursement of aid to the three affected countries.

Turkey will receive a 400-million-euro aid package to assist with the significant earthquakes that struck the country in February, while Italy will be granted 20.9 million euro to aid in dealing with the floods that occurred in September.
