EBRD to lend 14.2 mln euro to Romanian water utility

April 12 (SeeNews) - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it is reviewing a potential 14.2 million euro ($15.2 million) loan to Romanian regional water utility CUP Dunarea Braila.

The utility company will use the loan, together with EU funds, to co-finance investments under the EU Infrastructure Programme in order to extend its water and wastewater network and services, EBRD said in a statement on Thursday.

The loan is pending final review, approval is expected on April 30, as per the statement.

By accessing the loan, Dunarea Braila also undertakes that its expansion project will contribute to clean energy transition goals, by improving its water supply and wastewater treatment services, targeting compliance with EU standards. The project has a total cost of 240.8 million.

CUP Dunarea Braila is the regional water and wastewater operator in southeastern Romania.
