Dacia secured a market share of 28.6% of new vehicle registrations, the company said in a press release on Tuesday.

The best-selling model for the company in the previous year was the Logan sedan, recording 14,269 units sold, reflecting a 25% increase from the previous year. The Duster SUV model secured the second spot in sales, with 10,908 units, marking an increase of 747 units compared to the preceding year.

The subcompact hatchback Sandero also performed strongly, securing the third spot with 9,896 units sold last year in Romania, up 16.9% year-on-year. The Dacia Spring, the company's electric vehicle, remained the market leader in its segment, registering 6,875 units and capturing over 43% of the 100% electric vehicle market.

Dacia's third-generation Duster is going to be available for customers starting in March, with the first deliveries expected before the second half of the year.

"I am convinced that the new Duster, whose launch represents for us the event of the year 2024, will also become a real reference on the Romanian market," said Mihai Bordeanu, head of Dacia for South Eastern Europe.

In 2022, Dacia saw a 6.8% increase in sales compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 573,837 units and solidifying Dacia's position as the third-largest car seller in Europe.

Renault, which bought Dacia in 1999, sold some 2.2 million vehicles in 2023, an increase of 9% on the previous year.
