March 18 (SeeNews) - The number of cruise passengers who visited Montenegro in 2019 rose 28.2% to 649,038, the country's statistical office said on Wednesday.
The total number of cruise ship calls handled by Montenegro's seaports in 2019 increased by 15.6% to 490, the office of statistics said in a statement.
The largest number of cruise ship calls serviced by Montenegrin seaports in 2019, 74, was recorded in September, followed by October with 71, July and July with 69 each.
As many as 123 of the cruise ship calls operated in Montenegro were made by vessels sailing under the Malta flag. Ships under Bahamas and Panama flags amounted to 113 and 79, respectively.
In 2018, Montenegrin seaports serviced 506,198 passengers, down 6.3%, while the number of cruise ship calls fell 1.4% to 424.
