January 2 (SeeNews) - Croatia generated 9.12 billion euro ($10 billion) in revenue from visiting foreign tourists in the third quarter of 2023, up from 8.47 billion euro in the prior-year period, the central bank said.
In the last four quarters, including July-September, the cumulative revenue from foreign tourists reached 14.45 billion euro, or 19.4% of the estimated gross domestic product, the central bank said in a press release on Friday. In the whole of 2022, the Adriatic country earned 13.11 billion euro from foreign tourist, or 17.6% of GDP.
The tourism sector plays a pivotal role in the Croatian economy.
The ministry of tourism previously stated that, following the record-breaking revenue from foreign tourists in 2022, Croatia expects even more favorable results in 2023.
