May 22 (SeeNews) - Croatia's prime minister Andrej Plenkovic said on Tuesday he will recommend to parliament to appoint Darko Horvat as new minister of economy, entrepreneurship and crafts, after Martina Dalic resigned resigned last week.
Agriculture minister Tomislav Tolusic will be appointed deputy prime minister for all aspects related to the economy and structural reforms, Plenkovic said in his address to the media in Zagreb aired by news broadcaster HRT.
The parliament is due to hold a session this week to vote on the nominations of Horvat and Tolusic.
Last Monday, Martina Dalic resigned from both her positions as economy minister and deputy prime minister, after leaked correspondence related to the restructuring of Croatia's troubled concern Agrokor raised concerns she might have acted in conflict of interest.
"In this unbelievable array of circumstances surrounding Agrokor, it turns out that I have suddenly become a burden to the prime minister, the government, the civil democratic community and the ruling majority. I don't want to be that at all," Dalic told a news conference in Zagreb at the time.
Darko Horvat was minister of entrepreneurship and crafts in the government headed by former prime minister Tihomir Oreskovic. In 2016, Plenkovic merged this ministry with the economy ministry.
