The project located near Vinkovci, in eastern Croatia, has been granted a building permit and the solar plant is expected to be put into operation on March 1, 2025, Janaf said in a press release.

It is the first acquisition of Janaf in the area of solar energy. The transaction was carried out via Janaf's subsidiary in charge of renewable energy, Janaf OIE, and is in line with the company’s business strategy from 2022 to 2030 with a vision until 2050, which envisages green transformation.

"The acquisition of the solar power project is the first tangible result of out strategic orientation," Janaf CEO Stjepan Adanic said. "Without ignoring the safety of supply of central Europe and the nearby countries with energy resources, we will continue the development of the segment of renewable energy, in order to turn Janaf into a respectable player on the Croatian electricity market," he added.

The value of the acquisition and the future investment in the solar power plant were not disclosed.

The founder and owner of Solar Energy Vodjinci is Toni-Rudolf Vlaic, according to data from Croatia's court registry.

Janaf’s shares last traded on May 16, ending 5.56% lower at 850 euro on the Zagreb bourse.
