December 19 (SeeNews) - Croatian ICT solutions provider Ericsson Nikola Tesla [ZSE:ERNT] said on Monday it has signed a deal worth more than 65 million kuna ($9.1 million/8.6 million euro) for an upgrade of core and radio network of Kosovo Telecom and its maintenance.
The contract includes modernization and virtualization of the entire core network, introduction of the most advanced equipment in the radio part of the network, and implementation of the Kosovo country code 383 in the network, Ericsson Nikola Tesla said in a filing to the Zagreb bourse.
“This contract enables Kosovo Telecom to not only expand the coverage with 4G broadband technology in the entire residential area, but also enter the era of 5G broadband technology,” Kosovo Telecom CEO Burbuqe Hana said in the filing.
Kosovo Telecom migrates to its own international code 383 and thus benefits by avoiding the costs of using the international code of Monaco, Burbuqe Hana explained, adding that from a technical point of view, Kosovo Telecom will appear as a company from Kosovo in the international telecommunications network.
Ericsson Nikola Tesla's shares closed 0.94% higher at 1,615 kuna on Monday on the Zagreb bourse.
