Croatia’s annual inflation slows to 3.3% y/y in May

June 17 (SeeNews) - Croatia's consumer prices increased by 3.3% on the year in May, after rising by 3.7% in April, the statistical office said on Monday.

On a monthly comparison basis, Croatia's consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.1% in May, after adding 0.7% in April, the Bureau of Statistics said, confirming its first estimate released on May 31.

In May, prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages rose by 2.8% year-on-year, health while transportation costs increased by 5.9%, prices of hotels and restaurants jumped 10.7% and healthcare prices increased 5.3%.

Measured by the EU-harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP), prices of goods and services for personal consumption increased by an average 4.3% year-on-year in May. On a monthly comparison basis, HICP rose by 0.2% in May. Croatia reported a 4.7% annual rise and a 1.0% monthly increase in HICP in April.

The country's average annual inflation eased to 8% last year from 10.8% in 2022.
