December 11 (SeeNews) - The gross written premiums of Croatian insurers increased 6.89% year-on-year to 9.69 billion kuna ($1.4 billion/1.3 billion euro) in the first eleven months of 2019, the Croatian Insurance Bureau said on Wednesday.
Gross written premiums from non-life insurance rose 11.28% to 6.89 billion kuna in the period under review, whereas the life insurance segment earned premiums of 2.79 billion kuna, down 2.59% compared to the prior year's level, the insurance bureau said in a monthly report.
Croatia Osiguranje was the largest insurance company in the Adriatic country at the end of November, accounting for 26.4% of total gross written premiums. Allianz Zagreb followed with 13.08% and Euroherc Osiguranje was third with 11.64%. Euroherc Osiguranje provides non-life insurance services only.
A total of 20 insurance companies operated in the country at the end of November.
Croatia's insurers earned gross written premiums of 9.9 billion kuna last year, up 8.83% on 2017.
