January 29 (SeeNews) - Croatia's prime minister Andrej Plenkovic has said the government is still evaluating all bids submitted in its tender for procurement of multi-purpose fighter aircraft and has yet to make its choice.
Plenkovic told the media on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos that he talked to his Israeli counterpart, Benjamin Netanyahu, about Israel's offer, as he did with Alexis Tsipras about Greece's bid and previously with the Swedish prime minister about their bid, according to a press release issued by the Croatian government on Friday.
"These are normal consultation procedures, and we will make the final decision once we are sure we are making the right decision and that it offers a long term solution," Plenkovic is quoted saying a government press release.
Netanyahu's office announced in a statement on Friday he and Plenkovic have agreed to move forward on the sale of Israeli F-16 fighter aircraft to Croatia.
In October, Croatia's defence ministry said its international tender for the procurement of multi-purpose fighter planes has attracted four bids - from Greece, Israel, Sweden and the United States.
