Bulgaria's YTD power output down 11%, consumption falls 4.5%

May 20 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production fell by 11.41% on the year to some 14,875 GWh between January 1 and May 19, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said on Monday.

In parallel, domestic power consumption declined by 4.51% year-on-year to 14,617 GWh, ESO said in a weekly data release.

The country's power trade surplus slumped by an annual 82.61% to roughly 258 GWh in the review period.

The volume of renewable energy in the transmission network grew by 44.53% on the year to some 1,083 GWh, whereas the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system increased by 27.18% to some 1,106 GWh.

At the same time, the output of hydropower plants added 13.67% year-on-year to nearly 1,377 GWh in the period under review.
