Bulgaria's YTD power output down 11%, consumption falls 3.6%

June 18 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's electricity production declined by an annual 10.88% to some 17,144 GWh between January 1 and June 16, the country's Electricity System Operator (ESO) said.

In parallel, domestic power consumption fell by 3.6% on the year to 16,948 GWh, ESO said in a weekly data release on Monday.

The country's power trade surplus slumped by 88.16% year-on-year to roughly 196.2 GWh in the review period.

In annual terms, the volume of renewable energy in the transmission network grew by 49.33% to some 1,401 GWh, whereas the volume of renewable energy in the distribution system increased by 33.3% to some 1,412 GWh.

At the same time, the output of hydropower plants added 9.86% on the year to a little over 1,797 GWh in the period under review.
