June 1 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's state-owned coal-fired thermal power plant (TPP) Maritsa Iztok 2 said on Monday that it has extended its insurance contract with local Bulstrad - Vienna Insurance Group by three months and added 2 million levs ($1.1 million/1 million euro) to its overall value.
The insurance contract covers fire and natural disasters, TPP Maritsa Iztok 2 said in a notice.
The deal was initially signed in August 2019 for a nine-month period.
Most recently, TPP Maritsa Iztok 2's Unit 8 suffered damages from a fire which broke out in June 2019.
The power plant has eight operating units with a total installed capacity of 1,620 MW.
