Bulgaria's tourist overnights revenue jumps 32% y/y in May

July 10 (SeeNews) - Total revenue from tourist overnights in Bulgaria surged by 32.2% year-on-year in May to reach 115.9 million levs ($64.1 million/59.3 million euro), the statistical office said on Wednesday.

Revenue from domestic tourists amounted to 57.1 million levs, while foreign visitors generated revenue of 58.8 million levs, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a regular report.

The total number of tourist overnights grew by 14.4% on the year to 1.43 million in the review month. Overnights spent by foreigners came in at 686,200.

In May, the total number of tourists who stayed in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria went up by an annual 15.9% to 611,100. Of those, 240,700 were foreign visitors, up 29% year-on-year, while the number of domestic tourists added 8.7% to 370,400, the NSI said.
