May 8 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's tourism minister Nikolina Angelkova said that the country will lift the ban on tourist travel in the country and reopen small hotels and guest houses on May 13.
Bulgaria will put an emphasis on domestic tourism this year in order to help the sector overcome the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, Angelkova said as quoted in a statement by the tourism ministry on Thursday.
However, Bulgaria is considered by large foreign tour operators as one of the low-risk countries and tourists from a number of countries are still interested in spending their summer vacation in Bulgaria, Angelkova noted.
Bulgaria entered a state of emergency on March 13 over the coronavirus pandemic. By Friday, a total of 1,865 cases were registered in the country, with 401 recoveries and 84 deaths.
