March 8 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's government said on Wednesday that it approved the disbursement of some 213 million levs ($116.15 million/108.90 million euro) in aid for farmers to help offset the rising costs of farming inputs.
The funds will be directed to Bulgaria's Agricultural State Fund as part of a policy aimed at compensating farmers for the increased prices of energy carriers, animal feed, plant protection chemicals, fuels and fertilisers, the government said in a statement following its weekly meeting.
In a separate statement on Wednesday, the government announced that it has decided to submit a declaration to the European institutions, urging for equalized subsidies for agricultural producers across the EU. The document will be put forward at the next European Council meeting on March 23–24.
