May 10 (SeeNews) - Austrian energy company Energie AG said it has acquired a 29.4% stake in Slovenian wind and solar project developer AAE Gamit as part of a plan to generate 1 terawatt-hour (TWh) of electricity from wind and solar a year by 2035.

The aim is to develop wind power and photovoltaic parks in Slovenia with a capacity of more than 180 megawatts, including around 140 megawatts from wind energy, Energie said in a press release last week.

The projects will be spread across eight locations in southern Slovenia. The first solar power project will be developed this year, with the possibility of completing the first wind project by 2026, Energie head Peter Stoeckler said in the press release.

The planned wind and solar parks in Slovenia are expected to generate more than 360 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, equivalent to powering more than 100,000 households.

The other shareholders in AAE Gamit are three Austrian companies: holding company WIG Wietersdorfer Holding GmbH, Alpen-Adria Energie GmbH, and green energy supplier Oekoenergie Gruppe, as well as Slovenian wholesaler GAMIT Trgovina.
