The government proposed Plug and Play to establish an office at Albania’s newest tech and innovation hub, the Pyramid of Tirana, Brahimaj said in a social media post on Wednesday, following a meeting with Amidi at Plug and Play’s Silicon Valley Summit.

The Albanian government wants to bolster the development of start-ups in the country through the establishment of a dedicated agency and direct support via grants, the enterprise ministry said earlier.

The Pyramid of Tirana, a building originally opened in 1988 as a museum of the life of late communist dictator Enver Hoxha, reopened in 2023 as an innovation and technology centre.

Founded in 2006 in California's Sunnyvale, Plug and Play engages in connecting blue-chip companies to start-ups, according to its website. In addition to its accelerator programs and corporate partnerships, it manages assets worth $500 million (462 million euro) as of end-2023.
