March 4 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists arriving in Romania fell 2% year-on-year to 768,700 in January, the statistical board, INS, said on Monday.
Tourists spent 1.44 million overnights in Romania in January, down 3.2% on the year, INS said in a statement.
The number of foreign tourists arriving from the EU accounted for 54.8% of all foreign tourist arrivals.
The number of tourists arriving from Asia plummeted by an annual 44.9% to 9,800, while associated overnight stays in Romania slumped by 47.2% to 28,000.
