March 25 (SeeNews) - Zijin Bor Copper, the Serbian unit of China's Zijin Mining Group, plans to suspend for three months production at its copper smelter for scheduled maintenance and overhaul, it said.
The smelter in Serbia's eastern city of Bor will not be operational from April 20 until the end of July, the company said in a statement published on the website of its media outlet Kolektiv on Thursday.
The planned works include an overhaul of the facility's flash furnace and its filtration systems, which is meant to bring the smelter in line with environmental protection standards, and increase its future capacity.
Since the overhaul was envisaged in the company's business plan, it is not expected to affect the 2022 output projections of 85,000 tonnes of copper cathode, 1.58 tonnes of gold and close to 13 tonnes of silver, the statement added.
