The country's real economic growth is seen to accelerate to 3.1% in 2025 and then slow to 2.7% in 2026, the global lender said in its June 2024 Global Economic Prospects report on Tuesday, affirming its April forecasts.

For the Central European subregion, which includes Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland and Romania, the World Bank expects GDP growth to speed up to 3% this year from 0.5% in 2023. Growth is then projected to reach 3.5% in 2025 before easing to 3.3% in 2026.

The expansion reflects an expected recovery in the euro area and support from the EU’s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), with Poland being the main driver of the economic performance.
