September 7 (SeeNews) - Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air said on Wednesday it is allocating five more aircraft to its Bucharest base and expanding operational capacity in Bacau Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Sibiu.
The first aircraft will arrive at Bucharest base on October 4, Wizz Air said in a press release.
The company is also launching three new routes from Bucharest - to Athens, Prague and Larnaca, and is increasing frequency of 30 existent rotes to key destinations such as London, Rome, Milan, Barcelona, Paris, Brussels, Dortmund, Madrid and Tel Aviv.
The company is also supplementing its operational capacity in Bacau Cluj-Napoca, Iasi and Sibiu. In total, Wizz Air is adding 2.6 million available tickets on the domestic market, reaching a total offer of 13.8 million seats on almost 200 routes.
"(...) Wizz Air strengthens its commitment to the Romanian market, continuing its expansion and firmly establishing itself as a leader of the market," Wizz Air acting network officer Evelin Jeckel said.
Wizz Air is present in Romania since 2006 and currently offers over 180 domestic and international routes from eleven airports in the country. The company operates a fleet of 145 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft internationally.
