TIRANA (Albania), May 20 (SeeNews) – Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Thursday its earnings before taxes from operations in Albania halved to 1.6 million euro ($2 million) in the first quarter of 2021 from 3.2 million euro in the like period the year before.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Albania went up 17.9% year-on-year to 9.8 million euro in the three months through March, UNIQA said in first-quarter 2021 financial report.
UNIQA's gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Albania rose 20% on the year to 7.7 million euro in the period under review, gross written premiums from life insurance increased 9.3% to 1.3 million euro, while premiums in the health segment added 13.8% to 800,000 euro.
The group's net premiums earned in Albania were flat year-on-year at 7.9 million euro in the quarter under review.
