March 9 (SeeNews) - Channel services provider Allvotec intends to hire 200 people in Bulgaria as part of its plan to nearshore some of its back-office and support functions, and lower the number of its UK-based staff by around 300, UK-based media reported.
"We're going to have a state-of-the-art service desk, a NOC [network operatins centre] and UC [unified communications] capability. Some of our back office functions - IT and finance, etc - will also be delivered out of Bulgaria," Glen Williams, CEO of Allvotec, told tech news outlet CRN in an interview on Friday.
"It's been part of our plan from the start, and we've just taken a lease on a bigger facility over there," Williams added.
In December last year, Allvotec acquired Bulgarian networking and physical infrastructure services provider ISG Technology, taking on 70 staff based in Sofia.
"Part of our rationale for buying ISG was their capabilities in the networking space, but also their phenomenal capabilities and team in Bulgaria," Williams told CRN.
