ANKARA (Turkey), January 2 (SeeNews) – As many as 222 power plants with combined capacity of 6,986 megawatts (MW) were installed in Turkey in 2013, data from the country's energy ministry showed. Natural gas and lignite-fired thermal power plants account for 52.20% of the total newly added capacity during the reviewed period, figures published on the website of the energy ministry indicated. The share of hydropower plants is 37.41%, the share of wind farms is 7.13%, and the remaining 3.26% share of the total newly added capacity in 2013 is for biomass, biogas, waste heat and geothermal power plants.
