SOFIA (Bulgaria), May 11 (SeeNеws) - Sofia Airport has swung to a net loss of 13.8 million levs ($7.67 million/7.05 million euro) in 2016 from a net profit of 5.6 million levs in 2015, the company said.
Sofia Airport suffered 'impairment of receivables' from insolvent Corpbank in the amount of 25.5 million levs last year, the company said in its 2016 annual financial statement without elaborating.
In 2016, Sofia Airport turned to an operating loss of 15.4 million levs, from an operating profit of 4.4 million levs in the previous year.
Corpbank, Bulgaria's fourth largest lender, was hit by a run on deposits in June 2014 and was declared insolvent in 2015.
Sofia Airport's total revenues rose to 130 million levs in 2016, from 115.6 million levs in the previous year, according to the financial statement. Operating profit
In June 2016, the transport ministry launched a 35-year tender for a concession contract to operate Sofia Airport, seeking at least 550 million levs as a one-off upfront payment. The deadline for submitting bids had been extended four times before the country's caretaker government cancelled the tender. After a new elected government took over earlier this month, transport minister Ivaylo Moskovski said that the cabinet intends to relaunch the tender.
