April 4 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's Commission for the Prevention of Corruption said on Monday it found prime minister Janez Jansa acted in conflict of interest when voting on the appointment of Franci Matoz as non-executive director of Slovenia's ‘bad bank’, DUTB.
At a government session held in July 2021, Jansa voted for the appointment of Matoz, his personal lawyer, as non-executive member of DUTB, the commission said in a notice posted on its website.
Jansa did not do everything to avoid the conflict of interest, while Matoz gained material and non-material benefits from the appointment in the form of remuneration and functions in the bad bank, the commission said.
The Commission's findings are final.
Parliamentary elections will be held in Slovenia on April 24, 2022. Jansa is the leader of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) and has been serving as prime minister of Slovenia since March 2022, when former prime minister Marjan Sarec resigned. Jansa was also a prime minister of Slovenia in the period between December 2004 and November 2008, as well as between February 2012 and March 2013.
