February 17 (SeeNews) - Slovenian state-run project company 2TDK expects to complete the construction of a second track of the Divaca-Koper railway line three months ahead of schedule, it said.
"We completed some parts faster than originally planned, and we are also dropping the implementation of some parts of the project after it became clear they could be designed in a different way. Therefore, we anticipate that the projected completion timeline for the project, which was now estimated to be completed in mid-2026, would be reduced by three months," 2TDK said in a statement on Thursday.
In January, Slovenia's government extended the deadline for the construction of a second track of the railway line by six months to the middle of 2026 from the end of 2025 and increased the investment value of the remaining works to 1.027 billion euro ($1.096 billion) from 940 million euro.
The deadline was extended due to a ten-month delay in the construction of Lot 1 due to the postponement of the Glinscica viaduct construction for geological reasons, 2TDK said.
The project envisages the construction of a 27 km-long second track, 75% of which consists of tunnels.
