LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), October 20 (SeeNews) – Slovenia will close 2016 with government budget deficit of 878 million euro ($963.4 million), equivalent to 2.2% of the GDP, according to the latest finance ministry estimates released by the country's statistics agency on Thursday.
The government's consolidated gross debt will total 32.1 billion euro, or 80.2% of GDP.
Slovenia revised in October the 2015 general government budget deficit figure to 1.03 billion euro or 2.7% of GDP, 0.2 p.p. less than published at the end of September, the statistics agency said in a statement.
The change in the deficit for 2014 was also lower. It decreased by 4 million euro and according to the latest estimate amounted to 1.9 billion euro or 5.0% of GDP.
The revision of the annual data for the past two years had a positive impact on 2016 data. In the first quarter of 2016, government budget deficit decreased by 33 million euro to 318 million euro, and in the second quarter the surplus increased by 3 million euro to 55 million euro.
The government said in September that it expects the country's budget deficit to be equivalent to 1.6% of GDP next year before falling to 0.7% in 2018.
