The fire broke out around 9.20 am CET on Wednesday in the plant for the production of single-base powders, in the kneading phase. The fire started when emptying the kneader, the company said in a press release.

The injured employees, none of whose lives are in danger, were taken to hospital in the nearby city of Cacak.

Around 1,300 workers are employed at the factory, which produces single and double-base artillery powders, ballistite and double-base rocket fuels and exports 85% of its output, according to data posted on the company's website.
