March 29 (SeeNews) - Six days ahead of the early general elections in Serbia, the ruling SNS party of president Aleksandar Vucic is backed by 44.7% of voters, a public opinion survey indicated.
The SNS' current coalition partner, the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS), along with its traditional partner Unified Serbia (JS), enjoys 5.7% support, polling agency The New Third Way announced on Monday.
Regarding opposition parties, the list United for Serbia's Victory comprising the Party of Freedom and Jutice (SSP), People's Party (NS) and Democratic Party (DS) is backed by 20.1% of the voters, while a coalition of green parties called We Must is supported by 5.8% of respondents in the survey.
Regarding the regular presidential election, which will also be held on April 3, incumbent president Aleksandar Vucic is expected to win 51.7% of the votes, while the contender, retired army general Zdravko Ponos, will come second with support from 27.8% of the voters.
The survey was conducted on a stratified sample of 2,400 participants, the polling agency said.
