March 19 (SeeNews) - Serbia's central bank has granted state-owned telecoms operator Telekom Srbija a licence to issue electronic money, local tax advisory firm IPC said.
This decision was published in Serbia's Official Gazette on March 14, IPC said in a statement last week.
Serbian company iPay See is currently the only licensed electronic money institution in the country, according to data posted on the website of Serbia's central bank.
Electronic money is used for payments via the Internet and mobile applications.
A total of 13 companies hold licences to process transactions with electronic money in Serbia.
