Starting next year, tolls will also be charged on expressways, Vesic stated in an interview with state broadcaster RTS on Tuesday. He noted that toll rates on these roads will be lower compared to motorways.

Toll collection will include new routes like the Sabac–Loznica road and the Fruska Gora and Danube corridors, Vesic said.

The minister said he expects revenues of between 48 billion dinars ($444.1 million/ 410.2 million euro) and 50 billion dinars from tolls for this year. Looking ahead, he estimates that in the next two years, these revenues could increase to as much as 75-80 billion dinars.

Toll rates in Serbia rose by 10% on average on July 10.
