February 5 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government expects to open a total of 50,000 direct and indirect jobs through a joint project with China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) for construction of an industrial park in Belgrade, a government minister has said
The project will create 10,000 jobs directly and the construction works will start by the end of the year, the minister without portfolio in charge of innovation, Nenad Popovic, said in a video file posted on the website of Serbian public broadcaster RTS on Sunday.
"The project will be very similar to the industrial parks in China, Frankfurt, Berlin, and this is a new concept where people live and work in an urban environment, and the industry will be clean because it is high-tech," RTS quoted Popovic as saying.
In October, the Serbian government said it plans to invest some 300 million euro ($353.8 million) in the construction of the industrial park in Belgrade together with CRBC. Construction works will be financed by the Export-Import Bank of China, China Construction Bank and China Development Bank, Popovic said at the time.
The government said last month it plans to set up a joint venture with CRBC to carry out the construction works.
