April 27 (SeeNews) - Serbia's government plans to impose an 83-hour curfew in the period between April 30 and May 4 to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in the country, it said.
The Serbian government asked the Parliament to confirm a decision for the introduction of a curfew between 6 pm on April 30 and 5 am on May 4 and restrict free movement during the Labour Day holiday, it said in a statement on Sunday.
Citizens older than 65 years will be able to take an hourly walk each day from April 27 between 6 pm and 1 am, while shops for them will be open on Thursday from 4 am to 7 am, the government said.
Last month, the government introduced a night curfew for all citizens from 8 pm to 5 am. The curfew was later extended from 5 pm to 5 am. Since April 21, the curfew has been in force from 6 pm to 5 am.
Serbia has so far confirmed 8,042 COVID-19 cases and 156 deaths related to the virus.
