August 24 (SeeNews) - Serbia plans to increase pensions in October, and hike wages in the public sector two months later, president Aleksandar Vucic said on Friday.
In the next month or so, the government will abolish the law on the temporary reduction of pensions, adopted in 2014 to reduce budget deficit, Vucic said in comments aired by public broadcaster Radio Beograd 1.
"The pensioners will receive increased pensions on November 10," Vucic said.
In May, Vucic said the government decided to increase pensions by between 5% and 25% by the end of 2018.
After the abolishment of the law, the pensions above 50,000 dinars ($490/423 euro) will be increased by 9.1% compared to 2014, whereas pensions above 120,000 dinars will be lifted by 8.4%, Vucic said back then.
