March 12 (SeeNews) - Serbia plans to finish by 2026 the construction of a 26-km section of the motorway linking Zrenjanin and Belgrade, part of a project also including a high-speed road linking Zrenjanin to Novi Sad, infrastructure minister Goran Vesic said.
The section will connect Belgrade to Kovacica, in the northern autonomous province of Vojvodina, Vesic said, as seen in a video published by local broadcaster RTV on Monday.
Serbia will invest a total 280 million euro ($305.9 million) in the 56-kilometre Belgrade-Zrenjanin motorway, while a further 250 million euro will be invested in the 50-kilometre Zrenjanin-Novi Sad expressway, president Aleksandar Vucic said in 2019.
The Serbian government signed a contract with China's Shandong Hi-Speed Group (SDHS) for the construction of the motorway in January 2020.
