May 27 (SeeNews) - The Serbian government has imposed a temporary ban on exports of firewood to ensure stable supply amid a potential energy crisis, it said.

"The aim of the decree is to mitigate the consequences of the shortage caused by increased exports and the rising demand [for firewood] caused by the crisis on the global energy market," the cabinet said in a statement on Thursday.

The ban will remain in place for 60 days.
