February 14 (SeeNews) - Serbia is interested in acquiring a stake in either the Thessaloniki port or the Piraeus port in Greece, as the country gears up to increase its exports, Serbian president Aleksandar Vucic said.
Serbia plans to buy 5-10% of one port’s capacities, Vucic said at the opening of the Serbia-Greece business forum, as seen in a YouTube video posted by news agency Tanjug on Tuesday.
“When we increase automobile production, with mines and ironworks, we will need that,” added Vucic.
Serbia's trade deficit fell by 26.4% in 2023, reaching $8.903 billion (8.319 billion euro), according to data from the country's statistical office, with exports increasing by 6.5% year-on-year to $30.935 billion in 2023.
